The residents of Pune can soon expect relief from the persistent traffic jams. The congestion at Yerawada-Shastrinagar Chowk has been a growing concern for commuters and residents alike. The area experiences heavy traffic throughout the day, leading to delays and frustration. The decision to build a flyover and an underpass aims to ease the traffic flow and reduce the bottlenecks that currently exist.

The project, however, faced initial hurdles in obtaining necessary permissions from the Department of Archaeology. The site’s proximity to historically significant structures required careful planning and consideration. In May, the Department of Archaeology finally granted the needed approvals, allowing the project to move forward.

With the budget now sanctioned, the focus shifts to the rapid implementation of the project. Authorities are keen to lay the groundwork for the flyover before the Model Code of Conduct for the Legislative Assembly elections comes into effect. This means that the tender process for the project will begin immediately.

The construction of the flyover and subway is expected to commence within the next two months. The project’s timeline reflects the urgency to resolve the traffic issues in this critical area. Once completed, the flyover will provide an elevated route for vehicles, allowing them to bypass the busy intersection. Meanwhile, the subway will offer a safe passage for pedestrians and local traffic, further streamlining movement in the area.
