No COVID Restrictions On Rath Yatra 2025
According to a report in The Times of India, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling confirmed that devotees heading to the Rath Yatra in Puri on June 27 will face no COVID-related restrictions. Public participation will also continue without any immediate curbs. This update comes as India sees a new surge in COVID-19 cases. At a preparatory meeting in Puri, the minister said officials are closely monitoring the situation. He assured that they are ready to follow the central government guidelines if needed. As of now, there are no alarming signs that would affect the Rath Yatra. Devotees can continue with their plans without panic.

Odisha COVID-19 Cases Under Control
The announcement has come as a relief for many. In 2020 and 2021, public participation in the Rath Yatra was restricted due to the pandemic, as reported by TOI. According to the minister, COVID-19 cases in Odisha remain under control. The state has recorded 49 cases in the current wave, with 37 still active. He also said that all required health facilities and emergency response systems will be in place. At least 300 doctors will be on duty in Puri on June 27 for Rath Yatra, and on July 5 for Bahuda Yatra. Temporary ICUs and heatstroke wards for emergencies will be set up as well.
Local health officials have confirmed that medical teams will be stationed along the Grand Road, where the procession will take place. Medical kiosks and ambulances will also be available to handle any emergencies.
