The charismatic and health-conscious R. Madhavan got candid with our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani for this episode of Power Breakfast. This is his second time on the Curly Tales platform and a first for our new series, “Centrum Presents Power Breakfast – Your Nutrition Matters”. Little did we know that he would be kind enough to teach us the correct diction of food items. Particularly in the South Indian style and we were happy to learn something new!
R. Madhavan Taught Kamiya Jani To Pronounce “Dosa” Correctly
We began the episode with a fun game of ‘This or That’ with Madhavan. Kamiya gave him some South Indian breakfast choices and he had to choose his favourite dishes. It began with idli or vada and he instantly chose idli. Next was upma or pongal, he cheerfully chose the latter option.
For the next food items, Madhavan corrected Kamiya’s pronunciation. He taught her how to correctly say the word “dosa” in the South Indian manner. He focused on how the English alphabet ‘D’ doesn’t dictate the pronunciation of this dish but the Hindi alphabet ‘द’ does. This is how he educated her to enunciate it as “dosai” instead of “dosa”.
This cleared Kamiya’s confusion about whether to use the letter ‘D’ or ‘द’. Now, she pronounced this breakfast dish as dosai with a ‘द’ and our guest approved of her quick learning skills. Through this, we also understood how to pronounce dosai in the right manner, all thanks to Madhavan! We are never going to forget it.
More Dosai Options For Him
Dosai has multiple vegetarian and non-vegetarian variations widely preferred as breakfast options. So, we had a lot more of dosai coming for Madhavan. Continuing with the ‘This or That’ game, Kamiya asked him to choose between rava dosai or masala dosai. This time, Kamiya properly enunciated and Madhavan was quite pleased.
He was impressed and said, “Now you sound like you are doing a show in Chennai,” before choosing the first food item. Kamiya was proud of correctly pronouncing this South Indian dish and laughed out loud! Did you learn the correct way to say dosai now? Comment down.
Also, he taught us more words to pronounce correctly. Check out the video and learn to impress your South Indian friends.
