Raj Thackeray Shares How He Disguises Himself While Travelling Abroad
This episode of Sunday Brunch was filled with food, travel tales, and nostalgia. When Kamiya Jani asked Raj Thackeray if he liked to travel, he revealed that he loved it. He went on to explain that while he loves to travel in India, there is “shanti” and fewer concerns about “security” while he travels abroad, as he is not easily recognisable. Now, if you’re wondering how he goes unnoticed abroad, well, Mr Thackeray puts up a good disguise while he is travelling! In his own words, his entire “get-up changes” when he is travelling out of India.
He mentioned that he ditches the kurta and pyjamas, wears a cap, grows out a beard, and wears long coats and hoodies to disguise himself. However, despite all this, people often recognise him! In a hilarious incident, he mentions that while travelling with his family in Switzerland, he was spotted by someone at Mount Titlis.
He recollects that while coming down from the mountain, he found a cafe that was selling vada pav and coffee. He ended up ordering a coffee and was sipping on it with a cap on. Suddenly a face appeared in front of him and a man asked, “Raj Thackeray?” to which he said yes. The man then rushed to other travellers he came with and screamed, “Ay, Raj Thackeray, Raj Thackeray hai, khara!”
Mr Thackeray says that while people often recognise him abroad, they don’t interfere with his travel and he doesn’t mind obliging for pictures.
