Ramadan 2020: No Live Spectators For Cannon Firing In UAE This Year

The cannon blast during Ramadan, announcing iftar from four places is a favorite tradition in Dubai. And, even the dreaded Covid 19 cannot stop this tradition. Dubai Police announced today that cannon firing will continue this year too, despite all odds. However, this year, the tradition will see some changes. Major-General Abdulla Ali Al Gaith of Dubai Police said that, keeping safety precautions in mind, the firing will not have a live audience.

But, wait, that does not mean you will miss out on the live show. Residents can enjoy the show from the comfort windows and balconies in their homes. You can also watch the show on TV. This year, cannon firing is scheduled to take place at Al Khawaneej, Atlantis The Palm, Burj Khalifa and the Eid Prayer Ground in Al Mankhool. The event coincides with sunset, so times vary slightly each day.
