Two climbers, Alain Robert, famously known as the French Spiderman, and his protégé Alexis Landot, scaled the iconic Burj Khalifa. The world’s tallest building standing at a towering 828 meters (2,717 feet) was scaled by these two experienced climbers. This extraordinary climb was part of Mashreq’s ‘Climb2Change’ global initiative.

Alain Robert, aged 61, is a seasoned urban climber with a remarkable record of ascending over 120 buildings globally, including iconic structures like the Eiffel Tower and the Sydney Opera House. Renowned as the ‘Human Spider,’ Robert is distinctive for his solo ascents.
Alexis Landot, aged 23, According to AFP, the French climber named Alexis Landot scaled the Mercuriales Towers located in the Paris suburbs. The 22-year-old daredevil climbed the 122-meter high tower without the use of ropes or harnesses, making him one of the few climbers in the world to attempt a “free solo” climb without the assistance of security measures. Accompanying Robert on various climbs, Landot shares Robert’s passion for adventure and challenge.

The daring duo commenced their ascent of the Burj Khalifa on November 29, 2023. While adhering to safety regulations, utilizing a rope and harness, they refrained from employing any additional tools or assistance. Negotiating the facade of the tower, leveraging small bumps like window ledges and frames, they faced formidable challenges, battling strong winds, extreme heat, and the physical toll of the climb.
After an impressive long hours, Robert and Landot reached the summit, including the tapered spire above the top floors. Their accomplishment was witnessed by an enthralled crowd of spectators and online supporters.
