In March 2023, Riyadh officially started a bus service which is running seamlessly. Owing to its successful debut, Saudi Arabia has announced Stage 2 of the Riyadh Bus Service. More than 350 buses operating on 15 routes throughout the city have already begun the first phase. What can we expect from Stage 2? Let’s find out.

Saudi Arabia Kicks Off Stage 2 Of Riyadh Bus Service

The commencement of the second stage of Riyadh Bus Service was announced by, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City on 19th June. This initiative is a part of the King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport. The newly informed stage includes an addition of 223 more buses serving the vast neighbourhoods of the capital. Access to 500 bus stations and stops will be provided, covering 9 additional routes. The new service will be involving the extension of Line 11, a dedicated bus lane service as a part of the overall 86 bus network routes.

The app’s improved features include ‘choose your travel’ ease of selection, payment procedures, and live bus monitoring. The app team stated that they plan on simplifying usage for passengers by facilitating quicker ticket purchases. This will also allow them to see their routes in real-time to choose the best trip options.
