A Ryanair Boeing 737, operating as Flight FR6080 from London Stansted to Kalamata International Airport in Greece, crashed into a perimeter barrier on the runway after safely landing in Greece. While no passengers were injured, the aircraft’s wing sustained substantial damage.

Ryanair Plane Crashes Into A Runway Barrier In Greece After Landing

A Ryanair plane crashed into a runway barrier at a Greece airport while taxiing after landing. The flight, en route from London, landed safely at the Kalamata International Airport and was manoeuvring around the runway when the incident took place on Wednesday.

According to NDTV, a spokesperson for Ryanair said that the flight had landed safely, but “the wing tip came in contact with a fence” as it was taxiing. The low-cost Irish carrier’s aircraft is now undergoing the required inspections and maintenance before it will return to service.

According to passengers on board, before the crash on the runway barrier, the Ryanair flight experienced “severe turbulence” during the almost four-hour flight. One of the passengers shared with the media that they heard a loud bang, and the impact of the crash was something everyone on board felt. Thankfully, no passenger or crew member was injured.

Airline’s Milan-Bound Flight Made Emergency Landing Earlier This Month

Ryanair’s runway crash in Greece was the second flight incident reported by the airline this month. According to NDTV, the airline’s flight to Milan was forced to make an emergency landing in southern Germany on June 4. The flight experienced heavy turbulence from a thunderstorm and around nine passengers were injured. Reportedly, the flight from Berlin made a landing in Memmingen after bad weather prompted the pilot to initiate the emergency landing. Airline authorities provided a bus service from Memmingen to Milan and also replacement flights to the passengers.
