Sabrimala Temple’s Gold Temple Roof Found Leaking; Repair Work To Start

The famous Sabarimala Temple in Kerala is of great importance as it is dedicated to Lord Ayyappa. It is one of the prominent religious sites in South India and every year thousands of devotees throng the Periyar Tiger Reserve. Recently, the Sabarimala temple’s sanctum sanctorum gold-plated roof was found leaking, according to officials. The temple’s sanctum sanctorum gold plated roof was offered by industrialist, Vijay Mallya.

Sabarimala Temple’s Gold Plated Roof To Be Fixed Soon

Sabarimala temple’s authorities have informed that the roof leakage isn’t a serious one and shall be fixed on August 3. The Travancore Devaswom Board which manages the temple told that the head priest has given permission for the repair work to be undertaken. It will approximately take 45 days for the repair work to be completed. As per reports, all the expenses will be taken care of by the Board.

Additionally, a hydraulic roof, worth 70 lakh installation was also being done in Sabarimala. This offering was made by a Hyderabad-based firm. This roof would be used during the rains. Such developmental works and changes were being done after obtaining permission from the Kerala High Court.

Sabarimala Temple Located Amid A Lush Tiger Reserve

The green, dense forests surrounding Sabarimala are a sight to behold. Women between the ages of 10-50 aren’t allowed inside the temple, but it was only recently, that the Supreme Court allowed women to enter the temple. The temple opens for pilgrims only at certain times of the year. On the other hand, inside the Periyar Tiger Reserve, there is also a 1,000-year-old temple, dedicated to Mangaldevi. Thousands of pilgrims visit this holy temple during the time of April to May and takes usually a trek of 12 km to reach there. And did we mention that there is a dargah, dedicated to Vavar, Lord Ayyappa’s Muslim friend which is part of the Sabarimala temple?
