On Sunday Brunch’s special 100th episode, we thought it was only correct that we interview the century-scorer Masterblaster Sachin Tendulkar himself! Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani interviewed him about his childhood days, food preferences and much more. Sachin Tendulkar Believes In Staying Connected To His Roots

We discussed how Ajit Tendulkar, Sachin Tendulkar’s elder brother, watched every single ball played by him and analysed every little detail. He did this to coach him better and advise him on strategies for upcoming cricket matches. In this process, there were agreements and disagreements, a part of parcel of learning new things.

Sachin told us that it was crucial to adapt to the new changes and learn along the way. He also pointed out that along with these new alterations, one should never forget their roots. He called it important to stay true to where you came from and keep a balance between the past and present learnings. “To have that balance and move forward is something which is gonna produce results,” he said.

Well, Sachin has won millions of hearts through his smashing sixes and fours on the cricket ground but can you imagine this humble Masterblaster as a naughty kid? You might be surprised to know that his parents would receive complaints about him daily. There was one incident which compelled his parents to send him off to Shivaji Park in Dadar, Mumbai during his idle time. Do you want to know about it?

It is indeed a humorous story. He and his pals were caught red-handed stealing plump mangoes from a mango tree. But in doing so, the branch of the mango tree snapped and they fell. This happened because the branch was unable to support the weight of him and his friend. After this, Ajit urged his brother to spend his idle time at Shivaji Park and this is when cricket entered his life.
