Santa Claus In Mumbai Distributes Masks

Christmas celebrations in 2020 will take place on a low key in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. And in Mumbai, Santa Claus was spotted distributing face masks, instead of chocolates and toys. He was even sanitising bus stands, autos and other public places. The man dressed as Santa was Ashok Kurmi,  the president of the Sion Friend Circle Foundation. Speaking to ANI, Ashok has said that every year he celebrates Christmas by distributing chocolates and toys among children. But this year, he chose to carry out a sanitisation drive instead, to spread awareness about COVID-19. Meanwhile, these Mumbai restaurants are curating delicious Christmas and New Year special menus.

Santa Cleans Bus Stand And Distributes Masks And Sanitisers

Ashok Kurmi recently took over the Mumbai streets in the Rani Lakshmi Chowk area, dressing up as Santa Claus. He sanitised public places like bus stands and autos. He also distributed face masks to pedestrians, passengers of public transport and the underprivileged. He distributed hand sanitizers too to the homeless children and needy.

Ashok told ANI, “I used to celebrate Christmas every year by distributing toys, chocolates, and gifts to underprivileged kids but this year due to the massive spread of COVID-19, I decided to sanitise bus stands, autos, and other places.” Ashok said that the sanitisation drive made him ‘feel satisfied’ as he could make people aware of the importance of face masks amid the pandemic. Also, Ladki Wale & Ladke Wale masks became popular in Surat during the wedding season.

Santa With A Heart Of Gold!

The number of COVID-19 cases in India has crossed a whopping 1 crore. But the country is unlocking gradually and people are stepping out for work and other purposes.
