King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh saw flight disruptions on October 8th, Thursday. Due to the rising tensions and conflicts, the airport witnessed several flight delays and cancellations. As revealed in a report by Gulf News, it mentioned that passengers are more possible, flight delays, rescheduling, and cancellations.

King Khalid International Airport Reports Flight Disruptions

The King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia has asked travellers to check their flight status with the airlines before they head to the airport. This is due to the current conflict; scheduled services could be affected. Flight operations have been disrupted at the airport, and dozens of departures and several services were cancelled on Thursday, October 8th. According to flight tracking data, 58 departures have been delayed, and 11 flights were cancelled on the morning of Thursday.

Mostly Saudi Carriers Affected

As it happens, according to the latest disruption, concerns are raised regarding regional air travel. Passengers have therefore been advised to monitor the airline announcements closely before departing for the airport. As revealed by The National News, Saudi carriers such as Saudia cancelled 162 scheduled flights and 108 others were delayed. Flyadeal, which is another low-cost airline from Saudi Arabia, also recorded 39 cancellations and 53 delays. Riyadh Air, however, which has few flights, experienced the least disruptions with 11 cancellations and six delays.

International Carriers Affected By Disruptions

Not just national carriers, but international airlines have also suspended flights to Riyadh. For instance, Lufthansa Group has halted all its services to Riyadh until October 16th, as mentioned in a report by Simple Flying. Cathay Pacific has also extended its existing Riyadh suspension until January 31st, 2027. Philippine Airlines has cancelled Riyadh services until October 10th, and Singapore Airlines has previously postponed the Riyadh launch to March 28th, 2027. Several Indian airlines have also suspended their flights to Riyadh.

Although responses have varied considerably, airlines are continuing their schedules. However, there are possibilities of delays and cancellations. So passengers who are travelling to or from Riyadh should ensure that their flight’s operating status is confirmed directly from the airline before their travel to the airport. Not to mention, for flights which have been cancelled, customers are advised to contact their carriers or the booking provider for information about alternative services.
