1. Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi’s Plant Genetic Resources Centre, Inaugurated

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan inaugurated the Plant Genetic Resources Centre established by the agency in Al Ain. He is the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi. A first of its kind in West Asia, it preserves seeds and tissues from wild plants and local plant species. And these are from across the UAE!

2. General Sports Authority Reviews Achievements Of The Sports Sector

General Sports Authority has announced the designation of National Sports Day. This is held annually and it is in response to the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. This event witnessed the announcement of the details of the first official edition of the School Games Championship. For those who aren’t aware, this is one of the projects emanating from the National Sports Strategy 2031!

3. First-Ever UAE School Games Tournament Announced

On the occasion of National Sports Day, the first-ever UAE School Games Tournament was announced. And the final competitions have been scheduled for May. Through its strategic initiatives, the National Olympic Committee seeks to nurture talent and instil a passion for sports among the younger generation. As a result, it will ensure a bright future for UAE sports on regional and global stages.

4. Curriculum To Be Modified In UAE Schools To Finish It Before Ramadan

Schools in the UAE are carefully planning the lessons as the plan is to finish the curriculum before the holy month of Ramadan. Not to mention, this comes after the Knowledge and Human Development Authority recently announced school timings in Dubai for Ramadan. And it should not be exceeding five hours of instruction time!

5. Saudia Has A Limited Period Deal till March 9

In an ongoing deal till March 9, the flag carrier of Saudi Arabia, Saudia is offering a 20% discount on certain destinations. These include cities, like Alexandria, Amman, Amsterdam, and Casablanca. However, the travel period will be till March 31, 2024. So, if you’re planning to travel in the coming day, don’t forget to keep this deal in mind.

6. Emirates Revamps Hong Kong International Airport Lounge

Emirates Lounge in Hong Kong has reopened its doors after undergoing a transformation. The redesigned space is open to travellers flying on the airline’s daily direct flights from Hong Kong to Dubai. And it also welcomes those flying in the daily service via Bangkok. Spread across 643-square-metre, it incorporates a sleek and modern design!

7. Ministry Of Hajj & Umrah Impresses People At Leap 2024

During the Leap 2024, which concluded on March 7, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah at its pavilion left people in awe with its innovation and digital transformation of services. As it happens, the digital experience in serving the guests of Allah has also been greatly admired by visitors.

8. Dubai RTA Concludes 56th CIECA Congress

The Dubai RTA recently, successfully concluded the 56th CIECA Congress. An International Commission for Driver Testing, this happened for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa. Coming to the event, this congress also witnessed a historic attendance of participants along with local and international speakers.

9. Schengen Visa Scam In UAE

There are scammers who are offering faster Schengen visas for a fee, and VFS Global has cautioned against them. And it’s worth mentioning that VFS Global does not charge any fee for booking appointments on its official website for visa applications. So, it’s advisable to not fall for these scams!

10. Foster + Partners To Design 2-Km Skyscraper In Riyadh

Foster + Partners was recently awarded the contract to design a 2-km skyscraper in Riyadh. As such, the unnamed tower will be located north of the kingdom’s capital as it will be located near the international airport. As it happens, Abraj Al Bait Royal Clock Tower in Mecca is currently the tallest building in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at 600 m.
