If you are feeling the midweek blues, then chances are that you’re probably looking at your calendars, checking out any upcoming public holidays. However, with most of the public holidays nearly over for this year, you might want to set your sights on the next year. So, making the planning tad bit easier for you, here is a list of some of the expected public holidays for 2027 that you might want to watch out for.

A Look At The Expected Public Holidays In 2027

We have a vague idea about a list of holidays that you can expect in 2027, although some will have to be confirmed as Islamic holidays are based on the Hijri calendar. And of course, they remain subject to the official moon sightings.

Here is a look at some of the expected holidays that can potentially turn it into long weekends.

• New Year’s Day, which is celebrated on January 1st, falls on Friday in 2027. This means residents can expect a three-day weekend as it is followed by Saturday and Sunday. The first working day of 2027 would be Monday, January 4th.
• Eid al-Fitr is expected to be celebrated between March 9th and 12th. Marking the end of Ramadan, it is expected that this Islamic holiday may begin on March 9th. However, it will, at the end of the day, depend on the official moon sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon.
• Arafat Day and Eid al-Adha could fall anywhere between May 15th and 18th. It is one of the holiest days in Islam, which is followed by Eid al-Adha. However, the exact dates will be determined on the basis of official sighting of the Dhu al-Hijja crescent moon.
• The Islamic New Year may fall on June 6th, which marks the first date of Muharram. This falls on a Sunday; however, this will depend on the moon sighting.
• Prophet Muhammad’s birthday could fall on August 14th, which is a Saturday in 2027 and would be subject to moon sighting. And finally, Eid Al Etihad falls on December 2nd and 3rd, which is a Thursday and Friday. This immediately gets followed by Saturday and Sunday, making a four-day-long weekend.

These Are Just Tentative Dates

Although these are just probable dates, ultimately, the holidays would depend on moon sighting, and each of the Hijri months lasts 29 or 30 days, depending on the sighting of the crescent moon.
