This leads to overcrowding and many people who bought legitimate tickets have to stand for a considerable part of their journey. Someone recently faced a similar problem while travelling in the Shalimar Express and shared it on social media. It was met with responses that expressed similar frustration over the situation.

The nuisance of ticketless travel is becoming increasingly common in Indian trains these days. To the extent that people who have bought legitimate tickets are unable to get the seats they paid for. One passenger travelling in the Shalimar Express shared a similar predicament.
They took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and shared pictures of ticketless passengers occupying seats which some other passengers have paid for. The post stated that ticketless passengers refused to move and give them their seats.
They also tagged the handles of the Railway Ministry of India, Railway Seva and Ashwini Vaishnaw. They specified the coach number and asked for help from the authorities.

The post received a lot of responses from people who have faced similar problems in the past while travelling on trains. The Railway Seva handle responded to the post and asked for the passenger’s number so that they could take speedy action.

Many people questioned why such a situation is so common. They asked why there wasn’t an official to ensure such a situation does not arise.
