Sharjah Boosts Ramadan Food Safety With 380 Inspectors, Strict Permits, Food Prep & Sales Rules!

Sharjah Municipality has no plans to let food safety slip this Ramadan. With the holy month in full swing, the food squad, aka 380 inspectors is on the move, ensuring your iftar and suhoor treats meet strict hygiene rules. From bustling shopping malls to small food kiosks, every bite served during daylight hours gets a thorough check.

Ramadan Feasting Gets A Safety Upgrade

Now, before you picture inspectors running around with magnifying glasses, the rules they’re enforcing are no joke. Every food outlet serving meals before iftar needs special permits, and all food must come straight from authorised kitchens. Got cravings? Sorry, you can’t sit and feast inside the shops before sunset, takeaways only.

Food lovers in Sharjah, listen up. If you’re planning to grab some pre-iftar delights, the municipality has laid down some quirky yet serious rules. First, the food must rest on a paved sidewalk — sandy spots are off-limits. Second, say goodbye to flimsy plastic trays; stainless steel containers are now the law. These containers need to sit inside a sealed glass box (at least one metre tall), with proper doors to keep the snacks safe from dust, flies, and overly curious passers-by.

Sharjah insists all displayed food must wear protective covers, either aluminium foil or clear food-safe plastic. And if you think reheating food from the day before will cut it, think again. All meals must be freshly prepared within the licensed kitchen and kept at ideal temperatures. In short, Sharjah wants your food fresh, clean, and safe, no shortcuts allowed.

Ajman Joins The Clean Food Party

Over in Ajman, the municipality’s slaughterhouses have also levelled up for Ramadan. After a full round of deep cleaning and facility upgrades, these meat hubs are now shining examples of hygiene and quality. Supervised by trained vets, they’re making sure every cut of meat meets health standards before reaching your table.

Ajman’s not just stopping at inspections, they’ve gone digital. Thanks to the “Zabehaty” app, you can now order fresh, safe meat with just a few taps on your phone. This way, you can skip the queues and still enjoy top-quality meat without worrying about food safety drama.

More Inspections, Fewer Food Fails

Sharjah and Ajman’s message is loud and clear, Ramadan feasts need to be safe, clean, and officially approved. Sharjah’s inspectors will check everything from permits to food storage, while Ajman’s team ensures no dodgy meat sneaks into homes.

For residents, this is good news. After all, nobody wants an iftar side of food poisoning, right? So, whether you’re stocking up on sambousek in Sharjah or ordering fresh lamb from Ajman, you can feast easily knowing the food cops are on the case.
