With New Year’s Eve knocking at our door, one can truly be excited to celebrate the occasion. After all, people around the UAE have plenty of plans about how they wish to bring in the New Year’s. It’s amidst all of this excitement, that the Sharjah Department of Human Resources has announced an official holiday for government entities for January 1.

As revealed in a report by the Gulf News, the Sharjah Department of Human Resources announced quite recently that January 1, Wednesday will be an official holiday for its government entities to celebrate New Year’s Day. As a result, work will resume on January 2, Thursday. It’s worth mentioning that this announcement comes after the UAE Government also announced a holiday for its government and the private sectors. Yes, it was announced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) that January 1 has been declared an official holiday and office will resume on January 2.

This is big news as a lot of people have comprehensive plans for December 31. While some might be partying with their friends at the clubs, others might just be at the public hotspots to watch the spectacular fireworks. So, this holiday makes all of these options viable for the people in the UAE.
