Sikkim’s Pakyong Airport Is Back; Will Have Daily Flights To Kolkata, And 5 A Week To Delhi

Sikkim is that one destination that Bengalis never get tired of. This Indian state is located only about 712 km from Kolkata and a huge number of tourists visit the city every year. With Durga Puja less than 50 days away, we are about to witness a huge number of Bengalis travelling to Sikkim during and after the Puja holidays and spending serene vacations. Now reaching Sikkim from Kolkata is about to be a lot easier with the commencement of direct flights from Pakyong Airport.

Daily Flight Services Between Kolkata & Sikkim To Begin Soon!

Good news, travel enthusiasts! Direct daily flights between these two places are set to start from 15 September 2023, according to a report by The Times of India – IndiaTimes. With these regular flight operations, travelling to Sikkim is going to be much faster and more convenient. In Sikkim, these direct flights are going to be operating from Pakyong Airport. After a hiatus of a few months, the doors to the airport opened once again on 2 September.

Sikkim’s Pakyong Greenfield Airport Resumes Operations

Flight operations at this airport started on 14 March 2023 but took a pause after 15 June because of poor weather conditions. Flight services between Delhi and Pakyong were closed for a few months. After a long waiting period, the services between these two places have restarted. Now passengers can catch a plane to fly from Delhi to Pakyong and vice versa.

Rajendra Grover, the Pakyong Airport Director, shared some important information about the flights operating from the first greenfield airport of Sikkim. Regarding air connectivity between Kolkata and Pakyong, he shared that the flights will be providing services every day. And for flights between Delhi and Pakyong, there will be flights on 5 days every week. You can board a flight from the national capital to Pakyong and vice versa every day except Mondays and Fridays.

A massive number of tourists from different parts of West Bengal visit Sikkim not only during the Durga Puja holiday but also during the upcoming festivities and winter holidays as well. Will the tourist footfall increase this year as well?
