Puri’s Jagannath Temple is one of the most beautiful and well-known temples in India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Jagannath, Lord Balaram, and Devi Subhadra. But have questions like how rich the temple is and what the value of the gems and jewels there are come to mind? Well, certainly they must have! But this has remained a mystery since 1978, when the last inventory was checked.
Since 45 Years No One Knows How Rich Is Puri’s Jagannath Temple
Since the last 45 years, the question has remained a mystery, as no one has any idea about the inventories of the temple. The inventory of all the gems and jewellery was last recorded in 1978.
Ratna Bhandar (treasury) was asked to be reopened, and a PIL was filed for the same in the Orissa High Court on June 30. The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration was asked to file an affidavit by the HC on Wednesday.
According to the Jagannath Temple Act of 1955, every three years the Ratna Bhandar has to be inventoried. The items were checked once in 1926 and again in 1978. The valuation was thus made in 1978 for the last time.

Keys To Open The Chamber Were Not Found
In 2018, the state tried to open the Ratna Bhandar for the structure’s physical inspection. But they could not open it as the keys to open the chamber on the inner side were not found.
The historic city of Puri, in the state of Odisha, is home to Shree Jagannath Temple, one of the four dhams (pilgrimage sites) of India. This ancient temple, which is dedicated to Lord Jagannath—the Lord of the Universe and a manifestation of Lord Vishnu—receives millions of pilgrims every year. Throughout the well-known Rath Yatra celebration, this number increases dramatically.
Along with the main temple, which has so many fascinating stories related to it, this shrine, which is built in the Kalinga architectural style, also has a number of smaller temples. The temple’s architecture is undoubtedly magnificent, and its ancient gates, which provide a view inside the interior, are as impressive. (As per The Times Of India)
