Diwali is not just an important festival in India, but also for Indian diasporas living abroad. During this time, Indian communities settled in destinations like the US, England, Singapore and more try to bring India’s culture into their homes with festive decor, lights, food and music. And this is how Singapore’s Little India is celebrating this year.
Little India is a vibrant neighbourhood in Singapore and is home to the country’s Indian community. The place has colourful buildings, Hindu temples and even the Indian Heritage Centre. And for Diwali, the neighbourhood is gearing up for larger-than-life festivities.
According to Mid-Day, the streets are glowing with colourful installations, and there are shops in the markets where people can shop for jewellery, traditional outfits, decorative lights, rangoli materials, idols of gods and goddesses, diyas, candles, sweets and so much more. There are also stalls selling delicious snacks. An X user, @milindpappu also uploaded some images of the festive market in Singapore.
