They have announced the construction of a new, four-lane highway that will reduce the travel time between Lucknow and Nepal. NHAI Announces Plans For 4-Lane Highway From Barabanki To Rupaidiha
Connecting Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki with Nepal’s Rupaidih, a new, four-lane highway has been announced by NHAI. This highway will cover a distance of 150 kilometres and is likely to be completed within three years. The UP-Nepal highway is expected to reduce travel time to just two hours between these regions. Furthermore, it will also boost business and trade opportunities for India and Nepal.
As per the statement released by NHAI, the land acquisition process for highway construction has been fast-tracked. The estimated cost of this four-lane UP-Nepal highway is around ₹150 crores. Considering the traffic movement between the two regions, they have reassured that one-way traffic will continue during UP-Nepal highway construction. NHAI has said they’ll follow the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway model for the construction of this highway. This will help them transform green fields into efficient road construction.

Things To Know About This Upcoming UP-Nepal Highway
What can you expect from this upcoming highway? Well, to begin with, it will reduce the current 3-hour travel time to just 2 hours. This reduction in time will not only ease travel but also business activities between the two countries. Also, upon its construction, it will further improve road connectivity from Nepal to Ayodhya for the pilgrims. As per NHAI, the UP-Nepal highway will be constructed in 3 years and will be ready for use post that.
