Craggy cliffs of Cape of Good Hope, gorgeous beaches, delicious food and an adventurous jungle safari of a lifetime is just an e-visa away for Indians. Yes, you read that right! South Africa is now offering e-visa to Indians on a trial basis. Provision for online visa application will be open for Indian tourists travelling to South Africa this is as per the declaration of the Tourism Ministry of South Africa. The e-visa facility is launched to attract Indian tourists for 2020. It’s currently on a trial basis but is expected to come into full effect by 1st April 2020.
What’s In It?
India is not the only country enjoying this e-visa facility, China will have online visa application facilities to South Africa from February, on a pilot basis. Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane, the South African Tourism Minister stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs has permitted the online launch and India and China have been identified as the two markets to begin this.

She further added that the first phase was launched in New Zealand. With feedback from there, they were able to incorporate improvements in the system. The online visa application will be fully implemented on the 1st of April 2020. Till then it will be run on a trial basis to find out if there are any glitches in the technology and whether they can easily be able to access documents through the system.

And that’s not all, in future South Africa is planning to invite Indian carriers to start direct flights from India. Direct flights from Mumbai to South Africa might be in the pipeline soon. So any interested Indian carrier will be provided with a license to commence direct flights to South Africa.
