As if there are already not enough reasons to plan a holiday to this beautiful destination, the country has given you another one! South Korea announced the launch of a new visa for foreigners. Known as the digital nomad or workation visa, this will allow visitors to stay in South Korea on a working vacation.

South Korea Introduced A New Visa For International Visitors

In a recent development, this Asian country announced the grand introduction of an all-new visa especially for international tourists. Now travellers can stay in South Korea for a maximum duration of 2 years and staying employed in their own nation during this period is the biggest criterion. The pilot initiative of foreigners staying in South Korea on a working holiday came into action on January 1, 2024, according to several reports.

The Justice Ministry of this country will provide the digital nomad visa, according to the Yonhap News Agency. There is a list of points to follow to be eligible to get your hands on this workation visa in South Korea.

  • Foreign employees who are associated with remote work environments and have work experience in their industry for more than a year are eligible.
  • International travellers must earn double the per capita Gross National Income of South Korea in a year to apply for this new visa.
  • Interested individuals will need to have medical insurance of more than 100 million won (₹63,62,655.45), according to a report by Business Standard.
  • The insurance needs to include fees for medical treatment and repatriation.
  • Foreigners with a workation visa will not be allowed to work under companies in South Korea. In fact, they cannot take part in profit-making works.
