Food lovers are in for a treat! Aamra Prabashi Durgotsav features an extravagant food festival that captures the essence of Bengal’s rich culinary heritage. Here are some must-try dishes at Aamra Prabashi Durgotsav 2024:

  • Bhog Khichuri: A community lunch offered from October 10th to 13th, this traditional khichuri is made with Gobindobhog rice and mung dal, accompanied by crispy fritters like beguni (brinjal fry) and a vibrant mix of vegetables known as labda.
  • Luchi Aloor Dum/Cholar Dal: A staple during Maha Ashtami, these fluffy deep-fried flatbreads (luchi) are paired with creamy tomato gravy baby potatoes or a comforting thick yellow lentil curry.
  • Kathi Roll: This street food favourite features a piping hot parantha wrapped around your choice of grilled stuffing—be it egg, chicken, or mutton—alongside raw onions and chillies.
  • Kosha Mangsho: An aromatic mutton curry that is an absolute Pujo essential. Its sweet, spicy, and savoury profile pairs beautifully with luchi or plain steamed rice.
  • Bhaapa Maacher Paturi: Experience the rich flavours of hilsa fish marinated in a mustard and poppy seed paste, steamed in a banana leaf. This dish is best enjoyed with steamed white rice.
  • Daab Chingri: Jumbo prawns cooked in creamy coconut gravy, served inside a tender coconut shell, providing a rich and tropical flavour.
