The western suburbs now have pay-and-park locations where drivers may leave their cars close to five metro stations. To encourage the usage of public transportation systems, Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) have taken this action. Parking spots have been set up at the Oshiwara, Magathane, Goregaon West, Borivali West, and Malad West Metro Stations thanks to a partnership between the MMMOCL, MMRDA, and the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport Company (BEST).
5 Mumbai Metro Stations to Have Parking Facilities
Via the BEST authorised Mobile app “Park+,” several parking spots are made accessible at the BEST bus stations. Moreover, BEST has had a pay-and-park facility available to the general public since before the pandemic. These 5 spots can accommodate 483 automobiles in total, according to the statistics.
For the first three hours of parking for two-wheelers, four-wheelers and buses, the cost will be ₹20, ₹30, and ₹60, respectively. For the next six hours, the fee will be ₹25, ₹40, and ₹95. The tariff will be levied in six-hour, twelve-hour, over-twelve-hour, and monthly pass categories, according to the plan. To explain the intention of this initiative, an MMRDA representative explained the lack of parking space below the metro stations. In order to fix that, this collaboration with BEST was introduced. People are given access to this additional service because these bus terminals are close to metro stations. These five places have been chosen as a test experiment.

In Partnership With Best, Parking Will Be Offered At Bus Depots
Offering parking places will prevent as many automobiles from entering the highways. It is intended to develop options for last-mile connectivity. It will also help to relieve some of the traffic congestion on the roadways. Aside from this, the BEST has already been running feeder routes for last-mile connections with an exclusive focus on serving metro passengers. In addition, app-based bicycles through MyByk are also accessible at metro stations and are popular with some metro travellers.
The comfort of Mumbai residents’ travels is something we always strive to achieve. By reducing travel times, making these parking lots available is a significant value increase. The chairman and managing director of MMMOCL, S V R Srinivas, shared that the experiment is in the spirit of improving the transportation ecosystem of the city. It is intended to make it completely convenient for travellers.
