In a recent episode of Tere Gully Mein, Sufi Motiwala joined us to explore Mumbai’s famous Ghatkopar Khaugalli. The Khaugalli is known for serving unusual fusion dishes, and we took Sufi on a food trail to try and rate some of them in his signature sassy style. Originally from Surat, Sufi completed his studies in fashion communication in Delhi. He later moved to Mumbai for work, and we were curious to know how his experience has been so far. Here’s what he had shared.
What Sufi Motiwala Has To Say About Bombay?
Rightly known as the city of dreams, Mumbai is full of opportunities, but it doesn’t hold back on challenges either. Like many looking to turn their dreams into reality, Sufi Motiwala moved here, too, and we were curious to know how he feels about the city and how much he has explored. While waiting for a Breadless Sandwich at a food stall, he shared that he has been living in Mumbai for just about a year now and added, “Abhi tak I have only been traumatised by Bombay.” Just as Sufi began sharing the reason behind his traumatising experience in Bombay, something unexpected happened.
The food stall’s tent suddenly collapsed on him! With that perfectly timed accident following his not-so-positive review of the city, it almost felt like Bombay itself was offended. Panicking and laughing at the same time, Sufi quickly said, “I love Bombay. I love everybody. God, stop trying to kill me!” He surely got traumatised by this accident and won’t troll Bombay ever again.

He Was Troubled By Looking At The Breadless Sandwich
The Breadless Sandwich is Mumbai’s most viral street food and has been enjoyed for years. However, as Sufi watched it being made, he was visibly troubled. This sandwich uses boiled potatoes as the base, with veggies like cucumber, onion, beetroot, and more stacked in between. After seeing it being prepared, he said, “Agar aapko salad hi khana hai, toh ek bowl mein salad banalo.” Just as he reviews outfits on social media, Sufi reviewed and rated the dish a 4/10.
He also shared his thoughts on the street food of Surat. Want to hear all about it? Watch the full episode.
