Indian social media has erupted in fury after popular food delivery giants Swiggy and Zomato quietly reduced the free delivery radius for their premium memberships. Customers who pay for Swiggy One and Zomato Gold subscriptions are now only eligible for free delivery on orders from restaurants within a 7km radius, down from the previous 10km. This change has left many feeling shortchanged and frustrated.
Swiggy & Zomato Cut Delivery Radius For Premium Members
The new policy has been met with a wave of criticism online. Users have taken to platforms like X (Formerly Twitter) to express their disappointment, with some calling the move “outrageous” and “pure nonsense.” Many argue that the reduced radius significantly limits their food options and undermines the value proposition of the premium memberships, which typically cost around ₹99 per month.
While both Swiggy One and Zomato Gold still offer other benefits, such as discounts on orders, the free delivery perk is often a key selling point for premium memberships. The reduced radius significantly diminishes the convenience factor for many customers, who now face additional delivery charges if they want to order from their preferred restaurants located outside the new 7km zone.

Zomato and Swiggy have reduced free delivery radius from 10km to 7km! That’s outrageous. Why is no one talking about this?

Zomato has reduced its Gold free delivery range up to just 7 kms???
This is pure nonsense.
Nearby restaurants themselves do a free delivery why would I pay for gold then?
I hope Swiggy doesn’t copy this and reduce their 10km mark to 7km now. pic.twitter.com/miBan28yjy— Ripudaman (@mrtechsense) June 23, 2024
Party? If I’m paying for Swiggy One and Zomato Pro – I want convenience. They are now charging me ₹89 for 7.3km since it is more than 7km free radius, that’s absurd.

“Zomato and Swiggy have reduced free delivery radius from 10km to 7km! That’s outrageous. Why is no one talking about this?” lamented one user.
Another user questioned the lack of convenience surrounding the change. “If I’m paying for Swiggy One and Zomato Pro – I want convenience. They are now charging me ₹89 for 7.3km since it is more than 7km free radius, that’s absurd,” they said. Yet another user asked “Nearby restaurants themselves do a free delivery why would I pay for gold then?”
The backlash on social media highlights the growing importance of customer trust and communication in the competitive food delivery market. Swiggy and Zomato will need to address these concerns and consider offering alternative solutions, such as tiered membership options with varying delivery radius limits, to regain the trust of their premium subscribers.
