Switzerland Is Dropping All Travel Restrictions On Tourists From May

Many countries have finally lifted up Covid restrictions and have made International travelling possible after a long hiatus of almost two years. This has brought in a sense of relief, happiness, hope, excitement and zest among travellers who were caged in their houses and also the tourism and hospitality industry. Joining the bandwagon, recently Switzerland too dropped off Covid restrictions.

Announcement By Swiss Authorities

The Swiss authorities announced that travellers and visitors from across the globe can now enter Switzerland without having to follow any rules or restrictions from May. State Secretariat for Migration of Switzerland stated that as soon as the restrictions will be dropped off, travellers, no matter which country they belong to can freely visit Switzerland without having to produce any test reports or other such Covid-19 related documents.

Only Border Requirements, Not Covid-19

The authorities specified that the travellers who wish to visit Switzerland will only have to produce documents which are required as per border rules such as a valid passport or a visa depending upon their country of origin from May 2nd.

Low Infection, High Vaccination

The reason why Switzerland decided to drop restrictions is that the country has recorded low infection rates and high vaccination rates. On April 19, the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health recorded that 15,664,046 vaccine doses were administered throughout the country. Primary vaccination has been completed by 69.1 per cent and booster vaccination has been received by 42.8 per cent of the total population in the country.
