While the entire nation is worried about the surge in fuel prices, brothers Veeraguruharikrishnan and Sampathkrishnan from the Sivagangai district of Tamil Nadu came up with a smart and eco-friendly solution. The duo built a solar bicycle that operates on a solar-powered battery and can travel for up to 30 kilometres on being exposed to sunlight, as reported by News18. After that, it can also serve as a regular bicycle. The cycle equipped with solar panels and mobile phone charging slots costs ₹10,000.
The Solar Bicycle Can Carry A Load Of 150 Kgs
Speaking to News18, Veeraguruharikrishnan, who is studying in 8th grade, said, “If the switch is turned on the bicycle will only go at a speed of 25 to 35 km/h based on the current design.” He added that the solar bicycle is capable of carrying a load of up to 150 kgs. He also said that all types of cycles can be converted into this format. And it will cost only around ₹10,000 including the bicycle. His brother Sampathkrishnan, who teamed up with him in making the unique bicycle, is studying in seventh grade. Earlier, A Telangana Man Had Built Solar-Powered Bicycle To Travel 20Km To Work.

A Small Step Towards A Sustainable Future

Their idea of the solar bicycle proves that they think much above their age. At their age, most kids usually spend their time on entertainment options like video games, apart from studies. But these young peeps are bringing the much-needed change that can pave the way for a sustainable future for the nation and the world.
