Tamil Nadu To Launch Helipads And Cable-Cars To Boost Tourism

In a bid to boost tourism in the state, Tamil Nadu has announced a plethora of new plans including the launch of helicopter services to Rameswaram, Madurai, and Kodaikanal. The state has outlined a master plan to renovate the infrastructure of 300 tourist sites. Plans are there to introduce a tourism policy too. The possibilities of operating cable cars to hill stations will also be explored. Read on to know more.

Tamil Nadu To Develop Adventure Tourism, Eco-Tourism, Plantation Tourism And More

According to a Times of India report, the Tourism Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. Mathiventhan has stated that a tourism destination development scheme will be established to promote adventure tourism, eco-tourism and more. The government is planning to launch helipads for the operation of helicopters to tourist destinations like Rameswaram, Madurai and Kodaikanal.  Rural and plantation tourism will be developed in places like Megamalai, Udhagamandalam, Kodaikkanal and Kanniyakumari. The authority will roll out guidelines for trekkers, hikers and also caravan operators.

A Tourism Hospitality Skill Development Programme To Be Launched In The State

The state tourism department is also planning to launch a tourism hospitality skill development and certification programme by collaborating with the Tamil Nadu Development Corporation. Earlier, the forest department had selected five eco-tourism projects to be executed by collaborating with the tourism department. The projects can help in generating revenue for both the tourism and forest departments with adventure activities like trekking, eco-tourism, etc.

With the combined support of the forest and tourism departments, Tamil Nadu has planned to offer package eco-tourism schemes that will incorporate jungle safaris, guided tours. trekking, etc.
