In the latest episode of Tere Gully Mein, we explored Delhi’s Jamnapaar with none other than the melodious voice behind Sagar Wali Qawwali, Sagar Bhatia. The soothing voice behind hit numbers like Kiven Mukhre Ton, Tere Jeya Hor Disda, and Je Tu Akhiyaan, Sagar is one of the biggest contributors in bringing back the qawwali culture and we got to see his foodie side as well during our food trail in Delhi. Here’s how it went down.
Exploring Jamnapaar With Sagar Wali Qawwali
Sagar Wali Qawwali AKA Sagar Bhatia is a true blue Delhiite and also a big foodie at heart. Before we began our food trail, he gave us an important lesson, “Khaana toh haar jagah mil jaega, lekin kiske sath kya khana hai, matlab chutney kab khaani hai, yeah bhi zaroori hai Jamnapaar main!”
He shared that his musical journey began in the 5th grade when his music teacher saw him thumping his hands on his lap during a school assembly. He asked him to play congo and there has been no looking back.
We couldn’t help but ask if Sagar Bhatia avoids eating food with lots of spices because of his music riyaaz and he said, “Khaana aur gaana sath main chalta hai. Jo acha khaaega, woh acha gayega. Maan ki nahi maarte khaane ke mamle main. Thoda weather change main you have to be cautious warna main to bahut bada foodie hun, main nahi karta.”
Every artist has idols that they look up to and Sagar Wali Qawwali is no different. He says his music is influenced by legends like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Gurdas Maan. He even tries to incorporate their essence into his music in his ways.

Everything We Ate During This Food Trail
While we were enjoying live music by Sagar Wali Qawwali and getting to know his journey, we did not forget to eat to our heart’s content! We started our food trail with Chole Kulche from a street-side vendor. Next, we had some Kathi Kebab from Bobby Tikki Wala in Preet Vihar. The next stop was Gola Sizzlers for some mouthwatering sizzlers and creamy butter chicken. And of course, we had to end the trail on a sweet note, so we headed to the famous Classic Ice Cream Parlour for some dreamy sundaes and ice creams.
