According to an article which was recently published by Al Jazeera, the provinces of Pattani, Narathiwat, Songkhla, and Yala have been particularly hard hit. This has prompted the government to deploy rescue teams and allocate 50 million baht (₹1.45 million) in relief funds for each province.
Approximately 34,354 evacuees are currently housed in 491 government shelters, with the Thai cabinet offering 9,000 baht (₹22,313.57) per affected family. Malaysia has also suffered significant impact, with five days of intense rainfall devastating its eastern coast.

The ongoing situation has disrupted local infrastructure and tourism, with train services between Bangkok and Hat Yai temporarily suspended. The Meteorological Department has issued warnings for nine southern provinces, highlighting the potential for continued heavy rainfall due to the north-eastern monsoon and a low-pressure cell moving towards Sumatra.
Climate scientists suggest that these increasingly destructive weather patterns are likely exacerbated by climate change, making such extreme flooding more probable.
Authorities are advising residents near waterways and mountainous areas to remain vigilant and prepare for possible flash floods and overflows. As rescue and relief efforts continue, both countries are focusing on evacuations, emergency shelters, and infrastructure repairs to mitigate the ongoing crisis.
