If you had started taking COVID-19 guidelines lightly, it’s time to be alert again, as the virus cases are rising now. On February 24, 2021, Maharashtra recorded a total of around 8807 fresh cases, which is the highest in 129 days. The coronavirus tally in Maharashtra has reached around 2.11 million with around 51,857 deaths. Considering the alarming situation, the authorities have tightened the precautionary measures. Amid the surge in virus cases, Thane Municipal Corporation ( TMC) has sealed five restaurants for violating COVID-19 norms. Read on to know more.

TMC Sealed 5 Restaurants For Violation Of Social Distancing Norms And Non-Use Of Masks
Thane Municipal Corporation ( TMC) has sealed 5 resto-bars that were caught flouting the necessary norms of COVID-19. TMC has sealed the restaurants on grounds of violation of social distancing and non-use of facemasks. According to The Free Press Journal, an official from the encroachment department of TMC has said, “Following the orders led by TMC chief two days before, the action was taken against these restaurant-bars in the city. The action was taken against bars located at Majiwada-Manpada and Naupada wards. Total 5 bars have been sealed which also include two orchestra bars.” The official has added, “The case has been registered against these establishments (restaurant-bars) at the local police station for violating COVID-19 norms.” Earlier, Thane Police had performed aarti to shame people stepping out for morning walks.

Lakhs Have Been Collected As Fines From Violators
“The health team and COVID centres have been again made more functional, while the number of testing centres have been increased in the city. Besides, a special squad has been appointed to carry regular inspection within the crowded areas and curb the spread of the virus.”, stated an official. The TMC has formed teams to keep a check on people not wearing masks and violating social distancing guidelines. The authority has collected lakhs of fines from the violators in a span of just three days.
