4-Lane Bridge On Versova Creek Now Open

The 4-lane bridge across the Versova Creek on the Mumbai-Surat corridor was built at a cost of ₹247 crore. Currently, National Highway 8 has two bridges on either side near Ghodbunder and the Versova bridge.

One of these bridges was in a completely bad condition and was thrown open to the general public in 2013–14. This time it came with a 15-tonne maximum load restriction.

The National Highways Authority of India began building a second, four-lane Versova bridge in 2018 due to the heavy traffic between Mumbai and Surat.

The 2.25-kilometre-long project began on the NH-8 side closest to Surat. The balanced cantilever bridge measures 917.875 metres in length, and both approaches are 1.33 kilometres long. (As reported by the Hindustan Times.).
