The Abu Dhabi Sports Council recently announced that the first-ever Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix will be gracing the emirate in the January of 2024. This exciting event will be organised in partnership with SailGP’s global series partner, Mubadala Investment Group. The event will feature a host of hydrofoiling F50 catamarans, which have the capability of reaching a speed of 100 kilometres per hour! The dates for the event have been set for January 13, which is a Saturday and January 14, Sunday.

Since this event is going to be held as a part of the season, four of the race series will also include stages in the cities of Sydney, Saint-Tropez, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York. With this race event, the aim is also to raise awareness about the maritime past of the nation. In case you’re wondering about how to attend this inaugural event, the tickets for the sale, Grand Prix are already up for grabs. Yes, they start at AED145, which is quite awesome. However, there is also something in store for those who own a boat! Well, by paying AED1,655, they can watch the race from the perimeter by standing in the round boat.
