It’s time to travel like the maharajas all over again. The iconic Palace on Wheels is back on track after a hiatus of two long years to offer passengers an experience of sheer elegance. And this time, the luxurious train includes additional amenities too. The services were suspended for over two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Launched in 1982, the Palace on Wheels departs from New Delhi and covers a journey of 7 nights and 8 days. The route includes prominent locations in Rajasthan like Jaipur, Ranthambore, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Bharatpur, along with Agra and Delhi.
Palace On Wheels Makes A Comeback With Additional Amenities
Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot flagged off the royal train service at the Gandhinagar Railway Station on October 8, 2022. He stated that the resumption of the train service is an indication of the stronger revival of the tourism sector in India, as per reports. He also stated that the train now incorporates additional amenities and contemporary furnishings.

The Train Comes With Three Kinds Of Cabins, Two Lavish Restaurants And A Lounge Bar
The train comes with three kinds of cabins or royal chambers, namely Deluxe Cabin on Single Occupancy, Deluxe Cabin on Double Occupancy and Super Deluxe Cabin. The train has a total of 23 coaches with 4 cabins in each coach. The cabins come with attached bathrooms. Also, there is a personal butler in the service of each cabin. Passengers can also indulge in a relaxing spa session inside the train.
The train also houses a lounge bar and two lavish restaurants- The Maharaja and The Maharani. The interiors of the train, meticulously done by Jaipur-based architect Reshmi Gupta, exudes Rajasthani vibes.

How Much Does A Cabin On ‘Palace On Wheels’ Cost?
For Indian passport holders, the cost of travelling inside a Deluxe Cabin on Single Occupancy is ₹5,98,290, excluding taxes. It can fit one passenger. The cost of travelling in a Deluxe Cabin on Double Occupancy is ₹7,78,036. It can fit two people. A Super Deluxe cabin would cost ₹10,76,922 for one or two passengers.
