This Is Why It Costs More To Order In Food Than To Dine-In

We are so accustomed to ordering everything online that some of us can even place an order online with closed eyes. From foods to clothes to groceries to skincare, name anything and we are sure we have placed an order of that product online at any moment in the past. When it comes to food bills, many people noticed that ordering online actually costs more than going to a restaurant and dine-in. It came as a shock to a lot of people whose life depends on ordering food on delivery applications. Unfortunately, it costs more and we end up spending way more without even realising.

Ordering Online Is Very Costly!

Online food delivery platforms and services are a massive hit among today’s generation. No one has time, especially on weekdays to step out, visit a restaurant, order, wait for some time, and then relish the delicacies. In a busy schedule, ordering using food delivery platforms is a major time saver. But little did most of them know that ordering online costs more and they are spending unnecessary money just to save time and stay inside their houses. Here’s Why It Costs More To Order In Food Than To Dine-In

Do you know why it costs more to order foods than to dine in? There are various reasons behind the differences in the total amount of the food bills. Let’s discuss the reasons below:

  • Food delivery partners charge the restaurants extra as they are providing people to deliver the orders from the restaurants to the passengers’ doors.
  • Also, there is an extra charge of the commission. Food delivery platforms take a commission of about 24%-28% of the food bills from restaurants and eateries. They charge this commission as people are ordering from the restaurants using these apps and this is generating the restaurant’s business and income.

  • These platforms are a mode of advertisement for restaurants. So they charge an amount for this as well.
  • Restaurants often increase the prices when the customers decide to order using these delivery applications. The reason behind this spike in price is that they do not want to pay the commission themselves. The increased price often covers the percentage of restaurants’ commission. The reason for the recent popularity of restaurants’ websites is that the price is lesser and the offers are more.
