3. Ras Al Khaimah Police Get Tough On Reckless Driving & More Updates From UAE

March 1 marked the dawn of stricter measures against reckless driving in Ras Al Khaimah, as the police department vowed to crack down on offenders with stringent penalties and fines, including vehicle impoundment. Under the new regulations, Ras Al Khaimah Police enforce strict penalties for various traffic offences, including participating in road races without a number plate or with a tampered plate, which results in vehicle impoundment for 120 days and a Dh20,000 fine. Participation in road races without permission incurs a 90-day impoundment and a Dh10,000 fine. Unauthorized parades lead to vehicle impoundment for 15 to 120 days and a Dh10,000 fine, while performing stunts endangering lives results in a 120-day impoundment and a Dh10,000 fine. Modifying vehicles to increase speed and noise levels incurs a 60-day impoundment and a Dh5,000 fine. Driving recreational motorbikes or quad bikes on paved roads leads to a 90-day impoundment and a Dh3,000 fine while driving vehicles causing high pollution incurs a 30-day impoundment and a Dh3,000 fine.
