It takes about 17 hours of train travel time to travel between Delhi and Howrah by the Rajdhani Express. It is indeed a long journey and it is the fastest train too to travel from Delhi to Howrah and vice-versa. If passengers do not opt for Rajdhani, then the train travel time increases over a day too. But the good news is that the Indian Railways is in action to decrease these travel hours by a few hours.
Train Travel Time Between Delhi And Howrah May Shorten
Indian railways are working to compress the time so that passengers can reach their destination more quickly than before. These changes will be made under the project, ‘Mission Raftar’. As per the officials, the train travel time will reduce by a minimum of 2.5 hours on this route. Their plan is to increase the travel speed from 85 kmph to the highest 160 kmph. Travelling at an extensive speed will help in reaching faster than ever by train.

Rajdhani Express Will Take Less Than 15 Hours To Reach
Rajdhani Express runs through Gaya while travelling between Howrah and New Delhi. Taking the present speed into consideration, it takes a bit more than 17 hours for the journey to complete. As soon as the project Mission Raftar comes into action, passengers can reach their destination in under 15 hours. The speed will increase from an average of 85 kmph to 160 kmph.

A railway official informed that the steps for increasing the speed to 160 kmph on the route of Howrah to Delhi have already been sanctioned. The implementation process is in progress. Presently, the ongoing works are developing the railway tracks, modifying overhead equipment, and automatic train protection. Every work stage has a huge role to play in shortening the train travel time. Indian railways will use the latest technology for this project.
According to the planning, they are expecting to shorten the time by more than 2 hours. New timings and the changes will be announced soon after the changes are implemented.
