Seems like its cruising season – after the legendary Mumbai to Goa cruise, you can now hop on a cruise from Kolkata to Bangladesh.
What Is It?
India and Bangladesh have reached an agreement to explore the tourism route via water. And voila, the Ministry of Shipping has released a statement that a cruise route from Kolkata (West Bengal) to Guwahati (Assam) via Haldia (West Bengal) to Barsila and to Dhaka in Bangladesh by March 2019.
About The Cruise
Now that we have talked about the route and the estimated date of launch, let’s talk about the cruise. It will be river cruise, as opposed to sea cruises (Mumbai to Goa) and it will join 3 rivers – Ganga & Brahmaputra in India and Jamuna in Bangladesh. Overall, it will cover nearly 1500 km going through unexplored parts of the Sunderbans.
What To Expect?
Currently the cruise is being handled by a Kolkata based company but the government wants a private company to take up the project of the cruise because most river cruises represent top-notch luxury. The details on ticket rates and duration of the cruise hasn’t been revealed yet but you can expect the best of services for every passenger!
