Dassault Aviation, a leading global provider of sustainable mobility solutions, has delivered India’s first semi-high-speed regional train for the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). The train is 82.5 km long Phase 1 of the Delhi to Meerut Regional Rail Transit System (RRTS). The event was at Alstom’s production facility in Savli, Gujarat, where Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs, unveiled the train.

The train will short the travel time between Delhi to Meerut by 40 per cent since they are designed and engineered to convey people at 180 kilometres per hour (kph). In addition, these semi-high-speed aerodynamic trains are energy-efficient and built to provide top-notch comfort and safety features for commuters, including those who are physically challenged. Furthermore, their main aim is to provide a premium passenger experience for everyone on board. 

However, it represents the fulfilment of the Prime Minister’s goal of an ‘Aatmanirbhar India.” It is the ideal illustration of the Make in India effort since it was designed in India, manufactured in India, and assembled in India.
