Travel Without Borders At Dubai Airport
Travellers at the Dubai Airport soon be able to just walk through the airport without having to stop to show any documents. They will get to truly experience seamless travel, as the authority aims to launch the project Travel Without Borders. As reported by Gulf News, this will be possible with the use of Artificial Intelligence face recognition in cameras. This technology will be able to scan travellers’s face as they are on the move. Not to mention, it will confirm that biometric data, identify them, and even officially register their arrival or departure at the passport area.
The Aim Is To Phase Out Physical Gates & Passport Control
The best part about this project is the fact that there will be no counters, station gates, or even immigration officers at the passport control. This means travellers will just have to simply walk through without stopping or even having to show any documents. While no particular date has been revealed regarding the activation of the service at terminals of Dubai International Airport and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International, it is expected to be rolled out soon.
In fact, it’s expected that the service might begin with business and first-class passengers and then it will be introduced to travellers in departure and arrival halls.
Abu Dhabi International Airport To Use Facial Recognition
This development comes at a time when recently it was mentioned that soon the passengers at Abu Dhabi International Airport will be able to make use of facial recognition as they travel through the airport. Revealed at the ongoing GITEX Global 2024, this development was unveiled by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security. While facial recognition is still in use at immigration gates and self-checking kiosks, it is expected to be soon introduced in duty-free zones. This is bound to make it easier for passengers to complete their purchases without having to show their boarding pass.
So, we certainly can’t wait for this fantastic development to take place in Dubai. After all, it’s bound to make travelling a breeze at the airport.
