Now, the Indian men’s cricket team is in Japan for the Asian Games 2026, and Axar Patel shared a glimpse of how the country welcomed them.

Axar Patel took to his social media handle to share a glimpse of how he, along with the other cricketers, is spending time in Japan. Sharing photos with Jasprit Bumrah, he wrote, “Here’s how Japan welcomed us.” In the images, we can see our favourite cricketers holding umbrellas, showing that it was raining heavily when they arrived in the country. The duo clicked pictures at opposite of Porsche Studio Nihombashi in the Chūō ward of Tokyo.
It is not just Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah who are in Japan. The entire Indian cricket team has arrived in the country for the Asian Games 2026. The Asian Games started on September 19 and will continue till October 4. The 20th Asian Games is being held in Aichi-Nagoya. Here, the Indian cricket team will play a T20I against Japan on September 22 at the Sano International Cricket Ground.

How Many Athletes Are Taking Part In Asian Games 2026?
Around 11,000 athletes are competing at the Asian Games 2026. The event features popular sports like athletics, cricket, hockey, badminton and gymnastics, along with combat sports such as boxing, judo and wrestling. Athletes will also compete in kabaddi, sepak takraw, wushu and esports. The six new sports are:
- Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)
- Virtual Taekwondo
- Surfing
- Padel
- Teqball
- Freestyle BMX
Also, if you’re in Japan, you can visit places like Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Mount Fuji, Nikko, and Hakone, among many other popular destinations. Your trip is incomplete without these iconic places.
