Who does not love the Home Alone movies? Watched across the world during Christmas, the film remains just as relevant today because of its amazing holiday theme, Kevin’s iconic lines, and the hilarious ways the two bandits, Harry and Marv, try to break into the house. The McCallister home is a major element of the film. But did you know that to celebrate the movie’s 35th anniversary, a massive gingerbread house modelled after the iconic home has broken a Guinness World Record? We bet you did not!

Home Alone Gingerbread House Sets A World Record

Watching Home Alone in December, especially around Christmas, is a ritual for many of us. Kevin fighting off Harry and Marv with his clever tricks never fails to make us laugh. According to a report by Delish, Disney+ and Hulu teamed up for a special idea to mark the film’s 35th anniversary. They broke a Guinness World Record by building the world’s largest gingerbread house, modelled after the iconic Home Alone house.

The structure stands over 22 feet tall and is made entirely of edible ingredients. It uses around 4,200 gingerbread bricks, 6,600 eggs, and 7,359 pounds (3338 kg) of flour. Hard to believe, right? And yes, it looks pretty impressive. An X user also shared pictures of the gingerbread house on their official account.

The Gingerbread House Was Built In 8 Days

As per a report by Realtor.com, the McCallister-style gingerbread house was created in mid-December and took over eight days to complete. The structure measures 44,838 cubic feet, officially setting a new world record. Apart from eggs, flour, and gingerbread bricks, the build used 355 pounds of cinnamon, 25 pounds of icing, and four gallons of food colouring.

The house also features iconic details from the film. These include the famous driveway statue, a replica of Little Nero’s delivery car, and the Wet Bandits’ getaway truck. According to Delish, the gingerbread house was built in Los Angeles, USA, at Hollywood and Vine. Several visitors stopped by to take pictures of the display, which looked both appealing and delicious. Reportedly, the original house featured in the film was built in 1921. It has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and measures just over 9,100 square feet.
