We are just a few days away from celebrating one of our favourite festivals, Holi. It’s also the perfect time to travel—some might take a trip while others return home. Knowing that train travel demand increases during this period, Central Railway has decided to make our celebrations stress-free by adding special train services. Scroll down to know more!
Central Railway Adds Special Train Services For Holi
Not one or two, but Central Railway has decided to add special train services on multiple routes connecting Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Banaras, Gorakhpur, Samastipur, Danapur, and Sawantwadi Road. You can book tickets for these special trains from February 18, 2026. There will be a total of 186 special train services to satisfy travel demand.
According to CR, the special train services will run between Mumbai and Nagpur, Sawantwadi Road, Banaras, Gorakhpur, Samastipur, and Danapur, and between Pune and Nagpur, Hazrat Nizamuddin, and Danapur. As per The Indian Express, according to Zonal Railway, this includes 94 Holi Special Trains and 92 Special Trains.

Routes & Schedule Of Special Trains
Here’s all you need to know about these special trains –
Mumbai-Nagpur
CR is running 10 bi-weekly specials on this route. Train no. 02141 departs CSMT at 12:20 am every Sunday and Tuesday from February 22 to March 8, reaching Nagpur at 3:10 pm. The return train, no. 02142 leaves Nagpur at 8:00 pm on the same days and arrives at CSMT at 1:30 pm the next day. These trains will operate as regular specials on February 22 and 24 and as Holi Specials on March 1,3, and 8. Major halts include Dadar, Thane, Kalyan, Nashik Road, and Wardha.
Mumbai–Sawantwadi Road
As per Mid-Day, weekly specials will run on February 26 and March 5. Train no. 01171 leaves CSMT at 12:20 am and reaches Sawantwadi Road at 12:30 pm on the same day. The return, train no. 01172 leaves Sawantwadi Road at 5:20 pm and arrives at CSMT at 3:45 am the next day. These trains halt at major stations, including Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Pen, Roha, Mangaon, Veer, Khed, Chiplun, Sawarda, Arawali Road, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Adavali, Vilavade, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Nandgaon Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, and Kudal.
Mumbai–Gorakhpur
Daily specials will operate from February 21 to March 8. Train no. 01079 leaves CSMT at 10:30 pm and reaches Gorakhpur at 10:00 am on the third day. The return, train no. 01080 leaves Gorakhpur at 2:30 pm and arrives at CSMT at 12:40 am on the third day. These trains stop at Dadar, Thane, Kalyan, Nashik Road, Manmad, Jalgaon, Bhusaval, Khandwa, Itarsi, Bhopal, Bina, Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi, Orai, Kanpur Central, Lucknow, Gonda, Basti, and Khalilabad.
LTT–Sawantwadi Road
Weekly specials between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) and Sawantwadi Road will run on February 26 and March 5. Train no. 01119 departs LTT at 10:15 pm and reaches Sawantwadi Road at 9:30 am the next day. The return, train no. 01120 leaves Sawantwadi Road at 5:20 pm and arrives at LTT at 4:05 am the following day. These trains halt at Thane, Panvel, Pen, Roha, Mangaon, Veer, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Adavali, Vilavade, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Nandgaon Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, and Kudal.
