Man Caught Smoking E-Cigarette On Dubai-Mumbai SpiceJet Flight’s Lavatory; Case Registered

The cabin crew on a SpiceJet flight from Dubai to Mumbai detected a cigarette smell on a passenger, who later admitted to smoking onboard. On Sunday, the police booked the passenger under section 125 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023, and 25 of the Aircraft Rules of India, 1937.

A passenger on Dubai-Mumbai SpiceJet flight was caught smoking an e-cigarette by the cabin crew on Saturday. A senior cabin crew member detected the cigarette smell on the passenger, who quickly confessed that he had been smoking mid-air. He was later booked by the Sahar police for the irresponsible act on board.

According to Hindustan Times, a passenger travelling on SpiceJet’s Dubai-Mumbai flight was booked for smoking an e-cigarette inside the aircraft’s lavatory. The flight left from Dubai on Saturday, around 10 PM. While the flight was mid-air, a senior cabin crew member approached the passenger, identified Mortaza Razaali Khan, and detected the smell of cigarette smoke near him. When asked, the passenger admitted that he had been smoking an e-cigarette in the lavatory at the rear end of the aircraft.

His e-cigarette was then confiscated and the pilot and airport authorities were informed about the same, as per protocols. Reports suggest that SpiceJet airlines security informed the concerned authorities about the incident around 11.06 PM on Saturday.

Case Registered Against The Man

As per reports, the Sahar police booked the passenger for smoking an e-cigarette on SpiceJet flight from Dubai to Mumbai. He has been charged under section 125, which applied for acts that endanger the life or personal safety of others, of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023. He was also booked under section 25, which says no person shall smoke in any part of an aircraft or in its vicinity in which a notice is displayed indicating that smoking is prohibited, of the Aircraft Rules of India, 1937.
