Over 300 Special Trains Announced For Rath Yatra
Preparations are now underway for the upcoming sacred Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri, Odisha. To facilitate travel, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that Indian Railways will operate more than 300 special trains for the Rath Yatra. According to Ommcom News, these trains will have holding areas with a capacity to accommodate over 30,000 devotees.
Not just that, but authorities are also planning additional ticket counters and food arrangements in the Puri area to manage overcrowding and passenger traffic. The Railway Minister also reviewed measures aimed at improving passenger convenience, safety and security throughout the Rath Yatra period.

Rath Yatra Festival Draws Lakhs Of Devotees Every Year
This announcement comes as Indian Railways and the Odisha government get ready for one of the country’s largest religious gatherings. Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra is a major Hindu festival celebrating the annual journey of Lord Jagannath, along with his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra. The festival is centuries old and is held every year at the ancient Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha.
The festival draws lakhs of devotees to the temple from across India and the world. According to News On AIR, apart from announcing the special trains for Rath Yatra, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also announced that Indian Railways will operate more than 100 special trains during the Onam festival this year. These announcements mean that Indian Railways is doing its best to make travel smoother for thousands of devotees across India.
