An Indian village is gaining popularity on social media for being amazingly clean and so unique. Unlike the usual villages in India, Satara village near the Tadoba National Park is so well-designed and clean that you won’t be able to resist visiting this place at least once. A video shared by Instagram user Ankita Kumar (@monkey.inc) is going viral, showing glimpses from the village.
This is a village with spotless streets, no open drains and no garbage piles in sight. Here, children help collect trash every evening, and the villagers take turns to keep their streets clean. The video showed proper bins placed neatly along the streets and super clean roads, which definitely surprised us. But wait till you read more about this Satara village. Here, hot water comes free from a common solar heater. Can you believe that? It is amazing and a step towards sustainability.
Ankita also shared that drinking water here is available through an RO Water ATM card. Not just that, but every home has a tap with a metre. This ensures that everyone pays only for what they use.
RO Water ATM, Solar Lights, No Open Toilets & More
Even the street lights are solar-powered and turn on automatically at night. There is no need to switch them on, and we think this is a fantastic idea. Moreover, people here can get a fine of ₹500 if they swear in public. The best part? There is a hangout place for senior citizens where they can relax, watch TV and chat with their friends. A small library is also present in the village for kids. Along with all these amazing things, the village is actively involved in rainwater harvesting and composting. There is not a single open toilet in sight. Even the cattle sheds in Satara village are super clean and don’t smell at all.
But now you must be wondering who built this village. Everything here was built by the community. Money, labour and time were contributed by the villagers themselves. Women here are deeply respected and also lead. Many of the women safari guides of the famous Tadoba National Park are from this village.
Ankita also told her followers that Gajanan was the man behind the planning of the village. It took him five years to plan and convince everyone to turn his dream of a clean village into reality. And yes, all their hard work, discipline and consistency have paid off. The village is absolutely one of a kind.
