MakeMyTrip developed this initiative by working with the Ministry of Tourism. The Traveller’s Map of India is a microsite that has been developed as an interactive platform for travellers. This brand-new beginning helps travel enthusiasts to identify and delve deeper into the diverse destinations of India. The main purpose of the Traveller’s Map of India is to help users to discover the offbeat tourism gems of our country. It showcases over 600 destinations in India that are beyond the popular and bustling tourism places of India. Also, this has been developed in line with the Government of India’s visionary ‘DekhoApnaDesh’ programme.

The online travel company researched the travel search history of India to finalise the curated shortlist. Lakhs of users use MakeMyTrip each and every day and based on popular searched and must-see destinations, MakeMyTrip selected only those places that are offbeat and lesser known among the masses. To develop Traveller’s Map of India, these travel places have been categorised using tags such as adventure, beaches, heritage, mountains, wildlife, and more. Also, these tags are to help travel enthusiasts plan trips to their favourite travel genres.
