If you are planning to take a flight to the NYE celebration in UAE then read this. The NYE celebration hotspot has a new set of rules. Dubai International Airport will now conduct random PCR testing on travellers arriving on certain aircraft. The initiative is part of its attempts to curb the spread of Covid-19. Passengers from specific countries, such as Brazil, India, Bangladesh, Russia, and Pakistan, must submit to required testing.
A spokesperson for the Dubai Media Office confirmed that additional testing would be needful for the passengers arriving on flights that are not on screening lists. Furthermore, travellers arriving from the United Kingdom stated that they underwent a test upon arrival at DXB. The United Kingdom is not among the nations where a PCR test is required.
Which Countries Are Obliged Under This New Directive?
All travellers flying from the United Kingdom to Dubai must have a negative Covid19 PCR test certificate. The test should happen no more than 72 hours before departure.
Residents visiting Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Sudan must submit to obligatory testing upon arrival.
The latest initiative encompasses visitors in UAE from nations that are not on screening lists.
Furthermore, these travellers must get pre-arrival ICA and GDRFA permission. This does not apply to travellers with other visas. Passengers with a recently granted resident or employment visas, short or long stay visas. Also includes ten-year UAE Golden visa holders, Investor or Partner visa, visit visa or visa on arrival.
What Documents Do Passengers Require To Submit?
Passengers travelling from the aforesaid countries must provide a negative Covid19 PCR test certificate. It should be with a QR code for a test performed within 48 hours. The validity can be calculated from the moment the result comes in before leaving an approved health institution.

Passengers should additionally provide a Covid19 Rapid PCR test result. Attach a QR code for a test performed at the airport within six hours of departure
What Happens If A Passenger Is Tested Positive?
The ones who tested positive must undergo quarantine for 10 days after the initial PCT test. Passengers can discontinue self-isolation if the Covid-19 PCR test results are negative. Visitors from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, and Tanzania have also been subjected to new restrictions.
Passengers flying to Dubai who has been in or detoured through these countries within the last 14 days can’t enter UAE.
